The program is aimed at promoting and supporting The Nature Conservancy’s “PLANT A BILLION TREES” campaign, through an important awareness-raising activity for the preservation of our planet’s natural resources.

The campaign’s mission is to protect and restore the Atlantic Forest in Brazil, one of the world’s most endangered tropical forests. To date only 12% of its original area remains and only 7% is well conserved.

At the centre of this worthwhile project are Marc by Marc Jacobs MMJ 261/s bio-based sunglasses, made from a material derived from castor-oil seeds. The chocolate coloured sunglasses, which feature leaf textured temples, are packaged in a chic case made from repurposed leather. Â

In support of this project, Marc by Marc Jacobs will make a contribution to The Nature Conservancy to support the restoration of the Atlantic Forest.

A dedicated website for the project http://www.plantaseedproject.com provides full details about the campaign as well as enables site visitors the opportunity to plant a virtual tree and make it grow. Â A Facebook application will allow visitors to invite their friends and involve them in the project: a tangible and lasting involvement in an important environmental cause.

Marc by Marc Jacobs eyewear and sunglasses collections are manufactured and distributed by Safilo Group.

The Nature Conservancy:

The Nature Conservancy is a leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. The Conservancy and its more than 1 million members have protected nearly 120 million acres worldwide. Visit The Nature Conservancy on the Web at http://www.nature.org.

The “Plant a Billion Trees” project:

The Nature Conservancy launched the Plant a Billion Trees campaign in April 2008 with a goal to restore and plant one billion trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. Once twice the size of Texas, the Atlantic Forest spanned across eastern Brazil, northern Argentina and eastern Paraguay. Â Yet today, more than 93 percent of the forest has been cleared to accommodate Brazil’s rapid development and support the region’s 130 million residents, 70 percent of Brazil’s population. Although the remaining 7 percent is highly fragmented, these last stands of lush forest harbor one of the greatest repositories of biodiversity on Earth. Â http://www.plantabillion.org.

a world leader in supply chain optimisation for the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, today announced a new program that supports renewable energy installations through free consulting and development for photo-voltaic (PV) installations.

Inspiration for this new program came to Greycon from its customer, DuPont, a science-based products and services company that produces DuPont Tedlar polyvinyl fluoride films, which are used in a large portion of PV solar cells. In addition to DuPont’s commitment to producing products supporting the solar energy market, Greycon believes adjustments in manufacturing processes and improvements in manufacturing operational efficiencies can affect changes that drive better sustainability efforts among manufacturers.

“Driven to reduce the carbon footprints of paper, printing, film and nonwoven manufacturing facilities, Greycon is committed to its own sustainability efforts,” said Constantine Goulimis, CEO of Greycon. “While our efforts include measures for low electrical consumption for its offices and solar heated water for its offices in Montevideo, we believe that supporting the sustainability commitments of our customers establishes a sweeping statement to the manufacturing industry that everyone can take steps to protect limited natural resources for future generations.”

Program Particulars

This new program from Greycon is designed to reward and support manufacturers that are progressively driving sustainability efforts within their industry. For every 40 kW (peak) of installed PV, Greycon will contribute one day of software development and consulting services at no cost to a maximum of five days per customer.

The program is open to any Greycon customer that installed a PV system during 2011, and has a valid support and maintenance contract as of 31 December 2011. To take advantage of this offer, customers must provide a photo of the installation and agree to having their installation publicised by Greycon. The submission period closes 31 January 2012.

About Greycon Ltd.

Greycon Ltd. (www.greycon.com) is a global company with offices in the UK, USA, China and Uruguay. Greycon customers, concentrated in the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, span the globe with more than 400 plants using its products and services.  Established for over 25 years, Greycon is dedicated to developing and implementing optimisation-based solutions for production planning and scheduling in manufacturing industry, and is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, an SAP Partner and an Intel Software Partner.

Nanya Technology Corporation and Intellectual Ventures (IV®) announced today that they have entered into an intellectual property license agreement.

The agreement provides Nanya with a license to segments of IV’s extensive patent portfolio, which includes more than 35,000 IP assets in more than 50 technology areas. Nanya also gains membership in IV’s IP-for-Defense program. For customers accused of patent infringement, IV’s IP-for-Defense program provides them with the ability to obtain patents from IV’s portfolio to support counter-assertion, enabling more efficient negotiations in order to reduce liabilities and achieve favorable licensing terms. Nanya joins other Intellectual Ventures customers in the semiconductor memory industry. As a result of the agreement and membership in IV’s IP-for-Defense program, the current ITC dispute between IV and Nanya has been amicably resolved to their mutual benefit.

“This transaction, while building on our existing patent portfolio, provides Nanya with access to IV’s substantial patent portfolio. The collaboration enhances the IP strategies available to Nanya and assists the company’s goal of expanding the future innovation and continued development of our products,” said Dr. Pei Lin Pai, Nanya’s vice president of sales and marketing.

“IV is proud to collaborate with Nanya, a bold and innovative leader in its industry,” said Don Merino, vice president and general manager, Asia licensing sales at Intellectual Ventures. “The breadth of our agreement with Nanya once again validates the strength of our patent portfolio and demonstrates the many ways that IV brings value to the world’s leading technology companies.”

Intellectual Ventures engages with companies of all sizes to meet their current business needs and provide strategic guidance on forward-thinking intellectual property. IV combines scale and expertise to structure sophisticated deals designed to help companies strengthen their market position by reducing their current risk and providing access to the invention rights they need to stay competitive. Collaborating with Intellectual Ventures helps Nanya protect its core business so it can focus on innovation.

The Company has decided to voluntarily delist and deregister its ordinary shares because less than 5% of its worldwide average daily trading volume in the last year took place in the U.S. Â The Company’s Board of Directors authorized the delisting and deregistration after concluding that the consequences of remaining listed on NYSE Amex, including costs associated with regulatory compliance, outweighed the benefits of U.S. public company status to the Company and its shareholders. Â

In deciding to voluntarily delist and deregister its ordinary shares, Hadera Paper’s Board of Directors considered several factors, including the following:

·         low U.S. trading volume;

·         the Company’s last offering registered in the U.S. was in 1980;

·         high public company costs in the U.S., including those associated with preparation and filing of the Company’s periodic reports with the SEC;

·         significant management time spent on U.S. regulatory compliance;

· the potential impact of delisting and deregistration on Company shareholders resident in the U.S.; and

· the fact that financial and other material information will continue to be available in English on the Company’s website.

Hadera Paper has provided written notice to NYSE Amex today of its intent to delist and plans to file a Form 25 with the SEC on or about December 12, 2011 to initiate the delisting. Â The Company expects that the delisting will be effective ten days after such filing, which is expected to be on or about December 22, 2011. Â Hadera Paper intends to file a Form 15F with the SEC to deregister and terminate its reporting obligations under the Exchange Act after the delisting has become effective. Â The Company’s reporting obligations under the Exchange Act will be suspended immediately upon filing Form 15F and will terminate 90 days thereafter if there are no objections from the SEC. Â Hadera Paper reserves the right to delay or withdraw the filings for any reason prior to their effectiveness.

After delisting from NYSE Amex, the Company’s ordinary shares may be quoted on the OTC Markets Group Inc. electronic quotation service (the “Pink Sheets”) if market makers commit to make a market in the Company’s shares. Â However, the Company has not arranged for quotation on the Pink Sheets or listing or quotation on any other exchange or quotation medium within the U.S. Â Thus, the Company can provide no assurance that trading in its ordinary shares will be quoted on the Pink Sheets or otherwise. Â Moreover, the Company’s ordinary shares may become more illiquid in the U.S. once it is no longer traded on the NYSE Amex.

The United Steelworkers (USW) today condemned Cooper Tire and Rubber Company’s decision to lock-out workers at the company’s profitable Findlay, Ohio production facility, despite the union’s good faith offer to keep working while negotiations toward a new labor contract proceeded.

USW District 1 Director Dave McCall said that he expects the union to pursue unlawful bargaining charges against Cooper with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and added that the union is still committed to negotiating a fair contract in Findlay.

“These negotiations have been hindered considerably by Cooper’s behavior at the bargaining table and the company’s determination to instigate a labor dispute,” said USW District 1 sub-director Patrick Gallagher. “Cooper’s intent to test our solidarity became clear the moment the company refused our offer to continue working until we reached a new contract.”

“Our members are proud of their longstanding relationships with Cooper’s loyal customers,” said Rod Nelson, USW Local 207L president “We urge Cooper management to return to negotiations at once so that these relationships are not strained.”

USW Local 207L represents more than 1,000 hourly workers in Findlay, while USW Local 752L represents Cooper employees in Texarkana, Texas.

The USW represents about 850,000 working men and women in the United States and Canada in a wide variety of industries, ranging from glass making to mining, paper, steel, tire and rubber and other manufacturing environments to the public sector, service and health care industries.

Breakthrough improvement in flexo packaging

Mondi Lindlar has achieved its goal of a breakthrough improvement in flexo packaging quality thanks to KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates and optimized printing process parameters.

Attractive packaging is vital for products to stand out and appeal to customers at point of sale. Mondi Lindlar GmbH, a subsidiary of the Consumer Bags division that is part of the Mondi international paper and packaging corporation, was aiming to significantly improve its flexo printing quality for this reason. At the same time, the company hoped to profit from the new flexibility and offer a greater variety of packaging designs, along with shorter runs. Mondi Consumer Bags manufactures high-quality plastic and paper-based pouches, as well as rolls used to make packaging – chiefly for foodstuffs, animal fodder and non-food products.

“Our customers expect a high level of flexibility and excellent print quality in ever-shorter lead times,” says Stefan Gutheil, Managing Director Mondi Consumer Bags. The combination of FLEXCEL NX Plates and the optimization of various printing process parameters have allowed the Mondli facility in Lindlar to upgrade its flexo packaging quality in line with its ambitious vision.

Thanks to the ultra-high definition of KODAK SQUARESPOT Imaging Technology, KODAK DIGICAP NX Screening is also supported.

DIGICAP NX Screening enables a major step forward in ink transfer efficiency through the application of a micrsurface texturization pattern to the surface of all elements on the FLEXCEL NX Plate. Print applications that traditionally struggle with efficient ink transfer can now enjoy higher print densities, smooth solid area ink coverage and expanded color gamut with process printing. The unique platemaking process accounts for a further advantage of FLEXCEL NX Plates: the elements on the plate are sharp and well defined and have a flat top dot structure, so that variations in dot gain are reduced.

The FLEXCEL NX Plates can deliver more vibrant colors and a larger color gamut compared to conventional flexo printing. The options to reduce the number of colors mean more design latitude is available, as another color can now be assigned to the freed-up print station.

In collaboration with several partners, including manufacturers of anilox rollers and sticky-back plate mounting tape, the printing process parameters have been optimized to realize the print quality potential in everyday production. “Whereas our conventional screens had 105lpi on average, this figure is now up to 175. The feedback from our customers regarding the superior results is unanimously positive, and we’ve noticed a sharp rise in demand,” Gutheil concludes.
