A new tissue line to be supplied to Syassky Pulp & Paper Mill in Russia by Toscotec

To supply a new tissue line in the company, Syassky Pulp and Paper Mill in Russia has recently signed an agreement with the Italian manufacturer Toscotec. In a press release Toscotec said that the new machine will replace the existing PM2.

The new Toscotec AHEAD 1.5M crescent former machine consists a single press configuration TT SPR 1050, single layer headbox, a 3660 mm diameter Steel Yankee Dryer TT SYD 12FT and a renewed reel TT REEL-P.

ABB Acquires to Strengthen Business

ABB Ltd. has entered into an agreement to acquire Lorentzen & Wettre from ASSA ABLOY AB (publ) for a price of about $119 million. The acquisition is directed to solidify the company’s pulp and paper business.

Lorentzen & Wettre, based in the Kista district of Stockholm, Sweden, is a manufacturer of quality control, process optimization and test instrumentation for the pulp and paper industry. ABB Retains Leading Distributed Control System Market Share Worldwide for 2010

In the newest version of ARC Advisory Group’s “Distributed Control Systems Worldwide Outlook,” study, ABB retained its leading worldwide market position in this core automation market. According to the study, the DCS (distributed control system) market in 2010 rebounded from 2009; the overall market for DCS (distributed control system) increased by 3.3 percent, in part due to an increase of new projects in the heavy process industries.

Ahlstrom has announced the launch of Acti-VTM, a new generation of release papers for silicone coating, at LabelExpo Europe 2011. Andritz has received rebuild order from Kolicevo Karton, Slovenia

To rebuild its KM 3 wet section (wire and press section) International technology Group Andritz has received an order from Kolicevo Karton, Slovenia. The aim of the rebuild is to improve the quality and extend the grade range with GC-qualities (chromo board). Start-up is scheduled for December 2011, as the company said in a press release. The existing cylinder mold formers will be replaced by a multilayer Fourdrinier wire for top, back, and filler.

Andritz to rebuild paper machine for SFT Group, Russia

International technology Group Andritz has received an order by SFT Group, a rapidly growing packaging producer in Russia, to rebuild and modernize a mothballed kraft paper machine after dismantling it at UPM’s Kymi mill in Finland and relocating it to SFT’s Kamenskaya mill in the Tver region, Russia.

The modernized board machine for the production of fluting and testliner will have a capacity of 215,000 t/a (design speed 1,050 m/min, trim width 4,600 mm). Start-up is scheduled for October 2012.

ANDRITZ to Supply a New Headbox to Cartiere Polesine, Italy, for the Production of Packaging Grades Made From 100% Waste

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Cartiere Polesine S.p.A., Italy, for the supply of a two-layer headbox. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.

The PrimeFlow TW headbox with dilution water control (PrimeProFiler F) will be installed on the single wire of PM 3 for corrugating medium and double layer testliner. With the new equipment, the paper machine will have a design speed of 1,200 m/min at a wire width of 3.4 m, producing packaging [...]

Another firm looks at using Franklin mill

Companies seeking to use parts of the shuttered International Paper Co. mill near Franklin are coming out of the woodwork.

An investment firm based in Gaithersburg, Md., announced Thursday that it was evaluating the possibility of using part of the mill to recycle waste paper into tissue for napkins and towels.

The company, Tak Investments, would invest $60 million to $70 million and hire 80 workers initially, said Sahil Tak, a spokesman. Its plans call for starting operations by the third quarter [...]
